New York, NY – February 10, 2024 – Harleen Middleton, the visionary behind the acclaimed Haus of Harleen, made a bold statement at New York Fashion Week by showcasing her latest collection on the illustrious Runway 7, addressing the sensitive and controversial topic of domestic violence.
With a keen eye for challenging societal norms and sparking meaningful conversations through fashion, Middleton presented a collection that defies conventions and invites reflection. Titled "Caged,” the collection aims to shed light on the often-taboo subject of domestic violence and empower survivors through artistry and expression.
Each garment in the collection tells a powerful story, featuring symbolic motifs and provocative imagery that confront the viewer with the harsh realities of domestic abuse. From striking silhouettes adorned with statistical text, ethereal dresses juxtaposed with faux blood, Middleton's designs evoke a range of emotions, from discomfort to resilience.
“No one speaks about it,” said Middleton. “…this collection, is a story of my life. If my show can positively impact at least one person, the sleepless nights, endless weeks, and crippling stress are all worth it. I wanted to challenge perceptions and spark meaningful conversations about a topic that is often swept under the rug.”
While the collection has sparked controversy, Middleton remains steadfast in her commitment to raising awareness and advocating for change. By using her platform to shine a spotlight on domestic violence, Middleton hopes to inspire others to join the conversation and take action to support survivors and eradicate abuse.
